At Optika Optometrist, our professional optometrists perform comprehensive eye test on all our clients. Besides the standard eye power check (refraction) for spectacles or contact lenses prescription, a comprehensive eye test includes:
Early detection on any eye problems and update in eye power will allow more effective management and treatment, so that you and your family are able to enjoy good vision. Hence, a yearly comprehensive eye test at Optika Optometrist is the most certain way to maintain good vision and healthy eyes for you and your family.
EYE HEALTH SCREENING
Many eye diseases can be no symptoms or pain, and is usually only diagnosed in the late stages whereby treatment may be less effective and prognosis is bad. At Optika Optometrist, we strongly believe that early detection is always better than treatment, hence it had been our standard operations procedure to screen for any eye diseases or abnormalities during our comprehensive eye test.
To perform the eye health screening procedure, Optika Optometrist has brought in DRS Retinal Imaging System from Italy and Keeler Pulsair IntelliPuff Tonometer from the United Kingdom.
The DRS Retinal Imaging System is a special camera that could capture high resolution photograph of the eye's back part (also known as retina). This state-of-the-art technology assists in the detection and monitor of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration and signs of glaucoma.
While the Keeler Pulsair IntelliPuff Tonometer performs eye pressure test to detect signs of glaucoma, without causing much irritation or pain.
We strongly recommend clients who are above 40 years old to undergo eye health screening at least once every year, because most eye diseases are more common and prevalent among individual who is above 40 years old. With eye health screening performed for early detection of any diseases or abnormalities, early management and treatment could be taken if any problems occur, hence avoiding risk for permanent vision loss.
CONTACT LENS FITTING & ASSESSMENT
Unlike any other consumer or cosmetic products, the improper use of contact lenses could damage your eyes and impair your vision! Hence at Optika Optometrist, we make sure our new contact lens wearer undergo a proper lens fitting and assessment. At the same time, we also advise our existing contact lens wearer to have regular aftercare visits.
For new or soon-to-be contact lens wearer, a proper contact lens fitting and assessment is essential to get you the right pair of contact lenses. The procedure would involve something similar to our comprehensive eye test, with some additional examination to check the fitting of the contact lens in the eye. This is to ensure that the contact lenses we prescribed for you are appropriate for optimal vision, comfort and healthy for your eyes.
For existing and long time contact lens wearer, regular aftercare visits are extremely important to ensure the contact lenses you are wearing are still suitable for you. The visits are also important to ensure your eyes' health are in good condition and able to carry on with contact lens wearing. An aftercare visit would involve eye power check (refraction), eye surface and tears evaluation, anterior (front part) eye screening, inspection on the contact lens fitting and lens care.
